Wayward Pines Season 1 Episode 10 left us with a mind blowing ending that I'm guessing most of us did not see coming.

I pulled for it until past the big twist, which I thought was well executed. Sadly, the momentary gain in momentum was slowly squandered by absurd and overblown plotting, laughable dialogue, and a penchant for lazy characterizations.

By allowing viewers to rely on their imaginations and not killing it with exposition the tone remained even and interesting, while also opening up the door for a potential second season. Not that we'd necessarily want one; the ending was that good.

What a world! What a ride! What a delightfully unsettling ending to Wayward Pines, the downright coziest vision of a dystopian post-apocalypse we've ever seen.

The series ended in properly ironic Twilight Zone fashion, a fitting epilogue for a story so indebted to Rod Serling's narrative trickery.

Without a doubt, the last episode of Wayward Pines is one that delivers a clear sense of finality with its closing moments.

The abberations have two subtle weaknesses: 1) shooting them with guns and 2) blowing them up. Who would've thought?

When an hour of television is most memorable for its fleeting "The X-Files" tease, something has been lost in translation.
