Action will only take the show so far, but eventually viewers need to care about the characters or they don't have a reason to keep watching and Chase turns into a show that gets watched as an afterthought, not as appointment viewing.September 20, 2010
It consists mainly of that very thing we are often aphoristically asked to cut to, with just enough banter and back-story to let you know that these are in fact humans we are watching and not just exceptionally well-coordinated robot drones.September 20, 2010
Chase is as close as TV gets to a Western these days, and that's a good thing. It spins a good yarn.September 20, 2010
In the end, Chase might want to toss out everything else and just give us a full hour of nonstop chase.September 20, 2010
The Chase cast is led by a believably rough-and-tumble Kelli Giddish as Annie Frost.September 20, 2010
It isn't badly acted. I don't remember any of the performances at all. It isn't horribly written. I don't remember any of the dialogue or plot machinations.September 20, 2010
These boots are made for yawning. A sprint to nowhere, this generic catch-the-fugitive procedural has one asset: Kelli Giddish as the feisty macho heroine. Run, Kelli, to find better scripts.September 20, 2010
If you're looking for a quick refresher course in what the U.S. Marshals do for a living, or just need to know how many fugitives they caught last year, Chase could be the show for you. But if you're looking for actual TV entertainment? Heavens, no.September 20, 2010
The characters couldn't be more bland, and atmospheric Texas settings are ill-used.September 20, 2010
Chase settles for inertia, when the task of capturing viewers would appear to call for bolder strokes.
